VESTOJ is a global publication bringing together fashion and academia

Vestoj

In 2014, founder and editor-in-chief Anja Aronowsky Cronberg asked Studio Blanco to help her revamp Vestoj, an annual publication and cross-disciplinary platform that deals with critical thinking on fashion through theory, interviews, literature and visual content. Together, we completely reviewed Vestoj's identity and editorial architecture, strengthening its content and visuals and creating a signature approach to fashion.

Issue N° 10 — On Doubt
The 10th issue of Vestoj, is dedicated to Doubt, all types of it: both the crippling kind, and the kind that propels forward and to the fact that we can’t know which is which. Still, we see doubt as a creative engine and - as always - we involved in the discussion some great minds of our time like Virgil Abloh, Alessandro Michele, Axel Keller, Tavi Gevinson, along with brilliant image makers such as Charles Freger, Philippe Braquenier, Orfeo Tagiuri and many others.

Issue N° 9 — On Capital
The 9th issue of Vestoj is dedicated to Capital in all its forms: financial, human, cultural, social - you name it. It’s a research on how talent is developed and harnessed in fashion, and how this now intersects with branding which has become so important in all aspects of culture.

It’s about the value flow between symbolic assets like taste or beauty or cool and economic profit. And about how the traditional schism between cultural and financial capital has been replaced by a much more nuanced and complex relationship between art and fashion. Tightly related to the subject: Alec Soth’s portfolio, a contribution by Taryn Simon and more.

Issue N° 8 — On Authenticity
Is there such a thing as a ‘real me’ or a ‘genuine self’? How does one live an authentic life? And is it possible to do so in fashion, an environment so wedded to the mood of the moment, so seemingly dependent on masks and masquerade, adopted when convenient and shed when no longer useful? This issue explores what constitutes an individual achievement in the age of simulacrum, featuring interviews with Virgil Abloh, Miuccia Prada, Demna Gvasalia, Eckhaus Latta and an exclusive contribution by artist Torbjorn Rodland.

Issue N° 7 — On Masculinities
The social nature of masculinity is a pattern of practice, and one rife with complexity and contradiction. Today, it seems more apt to talk about ‘masculinities’ in the plural, to underscore the many ways in which one can be a man, or become one. The 7th issue of Vestoj, the annual journal of sartorial matters, focused on Masculinities and featured interviews with Wolfgang Tillmans, Jason Fulford, Karen Knorr, JeongMee Yoo, Titus Simoens and Pawel Jaszczuk.

Issue N° 6 — On Failure
In the fashion business, no venture is ever a failure: last season’s collection is always a success, so much better than the season before! And yet fashion fails all the time, both in small ways - dresses that split at the side and buttons that come off at inopportune moments – and and as a system. The 6th issue of Vestoj explores how fashion fails, with contributions by Christina Moon, Christopher Breward, Ann Rosalind Jones, Rinko Kawauchi, Erwin Wurm, Alex Prager, Ron Jude and Broomberg and Chanarin.
